The Visayas Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Program (ViCARP) presented the the Y1 accomplishments of the Regional Agri-Aqua Innovation System Enhancement (RAISE) Program in Eastern Visayas in the Annual In-House Review 2023 with the theme “ENSURING QUALITY AND RELEVANT OUTPUTS”, organized by the Visayas State University – Research, Development, Extension & Innovation Office on May 8-12, 2023.
Dr. Maria Juliet C. Ceniza, RAISE 8 Program Leader and ViCARP Director, successfully presented in this in-house review the outputs of the Y1 implementation of the 4 projects under the RAISE Program. Project 1E - Establishing the Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management (IP-TBM) in VSU which can greatly help in terms of technical, manpower, and financial needs in technology protection and commercialization. Project 2 - Regional Agribusiness Hub for the Pre-Commercialization of Technologies through the RAISE Program in Region 8, its main function is to provide assistance, information, and advice for regional consortia members to facilitate the transfer and commercialization of technologies. Project 3 - Regional Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubation (ATBI) Program in ViCARP, for technology-based businesses to make a real contribution to the economy of the Eastern Visayas, a region-wide co-incubation system that will harness the potentials of the technologies, inventions, and creations of AANR technologies for commercialization. Project 4 – Regional Knowledge Management of ViCARP offers to SUCs and other CMIs a competitive advantage and can significantly boost efficiency, productivity, collaboration, and employee satisfaction while also fostering high-level strategy and innovation.
“There must be good communication and coordination among the Project teams of the Program. The strength of a team comes from supporting each other, communicating well, and doing your share. We have to establish: R - elevance of each CMIs involved; A - attractive promotional resources; I -nnovative S&T; S – haring of resources; and E – nhancing capacities - Let’s RAISE Together,” VP Ceniza said.
Present at the event were the panel of reviewers, namely; Dr. Norberto E. Milla, Dr. Maria Vanessa E. Gabunada, and Dr. Tessie Nunez, who shared their expertise in research development and extension. The panel commended Dr. Ceniza and the RAISE 8 Team for a very comprehensive and successful implementation of the program in Region 8.
The RAISE 8 Program is a consortium-led program funded by the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD) implemented by the consortium member institutions (CMIs), namely; Visayas State university (VSU), Samar State University (SSU), Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU), Biliran Province State University (BiPSU), Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), and the University of Eastern Philippines (UEP).
The In-House Review also serves as a venue for recognizing the efforts of the University’s scientists and researchers in propelling the research vibrance of the University.
