Prof. Alan B. Loreto, Director for Innovation under Visayas State University’s Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension and Innovation (OVPREI) introduced VSU Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubator (ATBI)’s products and services to the 6th Sangguniang Panlungsod Members of Baybay City during their 15th Regular Session last October 19 at the Legislative Session Hall.
Prior to the program presented, Hon. Jose L. Bacusmo, Baybay City Councilor presented a proposal to the council regarding the innovation, entrepreneurship and tourism stimulus for the product of Baybay as briefer to Prof. Loreto’s presentation.
Hon. Mark Michael Unlu-cay, SK City Federation President expressed his support for the program. “I am so overwhelmed with the presentation of VSU ATBI and would like to congratulate the people as well for this very interesting initiative and I believe it’s high time for us to really make the necessary uplifting.” He addressed the importance of having ATBI to promote micro, small and large scale (MSMEs) in Baybay since the city has a lot of agri-aqua products that they can advertise.
VSU ATBI has been assisting innumerable businesses in Leyte and some parts of Visayas. In fact, the incubation center supported Baybay Food Processors Association which prepared the well-known vacuum fried and dehydrated jackfruit of Baybay Delights. Introducing ATBI’s services to the city’s local government sector is a great opportunity for startup cooperatives and individual entrepreneurs to develop their businesses. Also present during the event were VSU-ATBI Managers Phase 2 and RAISE Program’s Michelle Aubrey Cabase and Dindo Valeroso.
